Senate Ways
and Means
Committee Members I wrote them all, they are the ones holding the
hearings on
whether or not to fund the contract. The links beside their names lead to their
profiles, and on the profile page is a link to an e-mail form to complete to
contact them. You can copy and paste your message so you don't have to
type it
over and over again! Because most of these guys will be out of your
district
once you hit the send message button it will come back and ask you to click a
radio button to acknowledge that you are out of their district but want to
contact them anyway. Click the radio and hit the send message button
again.

House of
Representatives Appropriations Committee Members (this list should be similar
to the Senate one shown above, but it hasn't been posted yet. I was told
the
committee members haven't been finalized yet, but that the minute they were,
they'd post.) You can write them all as well, because they are the ones hearing
the compensation issue.

This is the main leg page, in the center at
the bottom is the district finder, put in your home address and it will tell
you
who your district rep/senator is and how to contact them directly...another set
of letters/e-mails. Good to let the folks who represent you in Olympia know
how you feel about this. Follow up with them if you don't hear
back. Use the
Legislative Hotline too, 1-800- 562-6000.

This is an interesting site, it was

A
very good article that recently appeared in the News Tribune...which got a
strong reaction from the Federation (see below)
http://www.theolympian.com/home/specialsections/Legislature/20050110/63125.shtml
Recent article in the O...taking the union view. The O editorial
board
supports the contract. Any ideas how we can work to change their
minds? The reporter, who writes most of the articles, including some that
have been favorable to dissenting employees, is Adam Wilson and his e-mail is
adawilson@olympia.gannett.com
if you'd like to contact him about your views.
The Evergreen Freedom Foundation has been supportive of the dissenting voices
and if you'd like to get on their e-mail list send a note to Michael Reitz.
He's sent me two interesting notes this week alone, including one about the
Federation, part of which I'll paste here:
FYI: the WFSE is setting up a PR team to respond to news of the state worker's
contract. If you didn't see the News Tribune piece they're talking about,
you
can get it here:

Also interesting reading. They are helping some individual state
employees
right now...one I'm aware of at Fish & Wildlife.
The FED-UP web site has been
put up by a volunteer webmaster.
The Federation's web site. Interesting reading for
sure. Gives you a very
clear picture of what they are doing, how they are doing it and who supports
them: http://www.wfse.org/ It will
give you an idea what we are up against.
Thanks everyone. If there's anything else that you need, let me
know. I'll do
what I can. Share what you've learned and encourage one another. If
you
decide you want to be taken off this mailing list, just shoot me a note and
I'll take you off. Conversely, if you know anyone who'd like to be added,
let
me know that too.
